Haivala Concrete Tools Inc was started in Seattle and has been in business since 1945. It was founded by William S. Haivala, a member of the Seattle Local 528 for 30 years, a cement finisher for 20 years, and superintendent of the Grand Coulee Dam Project and the floating bridge on Lake Washington.
When it became apparent that Haivala needed a more central location, the company moved to Wichita, Kansas, in 1950.
Mr. Haivala traveled nationwide demonstrating tools with the vision of manufacturing quality concrete tools for the cement finisher and attracting clients for the company.
Mr. Haivala was the originator of the metal bull float, adjustable bracket, metal extension handle, and the magnesium hand float. William S. Haivala remained President of the Board of Haivala Concrete Tools, Inc., until his death in March 1982.
The company has remained a family owned business and is continuing to put out quality hand tools and fabricate specialty tools made in the heartland of the United States.
